Overview

The New Brunswick Public Library Service (NBPLS) is committed to making public library services available to all.

Eligibility

People with print disabilities are eligible to access a restricted collection of library materials through their local public library. A print disability refers to a condition that prevents people from reading standard print due to severe or total impairment of sight or the inability to focus or move one’s eyes; the inability to hold or manipulate a book; or a learning disability. To access the restricted collection, patrons must self-declare that they have a print disability.

Description

All public libraries in New Brunswick provide materials in alternative formats (such as large print, commercial audiobooks and braille or print-braille) which are available at the library. Audiobooks and eBooks can be downloaded from the NBPLS website. In addition, NBPLS libraries provide access to restricted alternative format collections both at the library and through the Centre for Equitable Library Access (CELA) and the Service québécois du livre adapté (SQLA) offered by Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ).
