Overview
You can obtain a library card at your local public library, or you can request a library card by completing the form available online. Your library card can be used at more than 60 public libraries across New Brunswick to access over 2 million items in the provincial library catalogue.
Eligibility
The card is free for New Brunswick residents and landowners. You will need to provide a piece of identification and proof of local address when you register for a card at the library. The signature of a parent or a guardian is necessary for children under 13.
If you are visiting New Brunswick, you can obtain a visitor card for a non-refundable annual fee of $20. You must apply for a visitor card in person at any public library. Bring in a piece of identification and proof of a permanent address.
Description
With a New Brunswick Public Libraries card, you can borrow materials, use public computers and access online resources. A library card gives you access to a provincial collection of over 2 million items including books, eBooks, audiobooks, music, movies, online databases and more.
Library materials from any of the public libraries in the province may be put on hold through the online provincial catalogue and picked up at your local library. Items can be borrowed for a period of three weeks with two renewals and can be returned at any service point in the public library system.
Please note that the library cards are only issued online to residents of the province of New Brunswick. Landowners must request a card in person at the library.
Lost or stolen cards must be replaced at your local public library.
