Overview

Class M Compressed Gas Licences authorizes holders to work on gas fired heating and rooftop cooling units.

Class DAT Compressed Gas Licence authorizes holders to work on unvented domestic gas appliance.

Class RVT Compressed Gas Licence authorizes holders to work on propane appliances installed in a recreational vehicle.

Class IMT Compressed Gas Licence authorizes holders to work on gas appliances located on specific premises.

Eligibility

To obtain a Class M gas Fired heating and Refrigeration Maintainer Licence, applicants must hold a certificate of qualification issued under the Apprenticeship and Occupational Certification Act in the refrigeration and air conditioning mechanic trade, must successfully complete the TSSA training cirriculum (CSA modules 3, 4, 8, 12, 15, 26, 30 and 31) and must successfully pass the Gas Board examination.

To obtain a DAT Domestic Appliance Gas Technician Licence, applicants must hold a certificate of qualification issued under the Apprenticeship and Occupational Certification Act, must successfully complete the TSSA training cirriculum (CSA modules 2 to 9 and 11 to 16), and must successfully pass the Gas Board Examination.

To obtain an RVT Recreation Vehicle Gas Technician Licence, applicants must have at least 480 hours of field experience under a Recreational Vehicle Gas Technician Licence or Class A1 Domestic Compressed Gas Licence holder, and must successfully complete the TSSA training cirriculum (CSA modules 1 to 9 plus 11 to 16 and 18, 19, 21 and 22).

To obtain an IMT Industrial Maintenance Gas Technician Licence, applicants must hold a certificate of qualification issued under the Apprenticeship and Occupational Certification Act in an occupation acceptable to the Gas Board, must successfully complete the TSSA training cirriculum (CSA modules 1 to 13, 15, 22, 26 and 29 to 31) and training on site specific equipment, and must also successfully pass the Gas Board examination.

Description

A Class M gas Fired Heating and Refrigeration Maintainer Licence authorizes the holder to service and repair control systems and operating componenets on packaged combination gas fired heating and roof top cooling units.

A DAT Domestic Appliance Gas Technician Licence authorizes the holder to service, repair and replace any unvented domestic propane or natural gas appliances, downstream of the appliance shutoff valve, having an input of 100,000 British Thermal Units per hour or less.

An RVT Recreation Vehicle Gas Technician Licence authorizes the holder to install, service, repair and replace any propane gas appliances having a heating value of 100,000 British Thermal Units per hour or less in a recreational vehicle.

An IMT Industrial Maintenance Gas Technician Licence authorizes the holder to service and repair gas appliances on the employer's premises which are fuelled by natural or propane gas in vapour state, as specified on the licence.
