Overview

Preventive mediaion is a voluntary non-legislated program administered by the Industrial Relations Branch of the Department designed to help improve relations between labour and management and to promote responsible collective bargaining in New Brunswick.

Eligibility

Parties to a collective agreement under the jurisdiction of Provincial Labour Legislation.

Description

Preventive mediation is a non-legislated assistance to management and labour. It helps labour and management in finding common solutions to problems affecting their day-to-day relationship. It is low-cost and usually involves only the cost of facilities.

The Preventive Mediation Program provides assistance in the following areas:

Labour-Management Committees
Interest Based Negotiations (IBN) Skills Training
Joint Training
Relationship by Objective (RBO)
Grievance Mediation
Facilitation
Consultation
