FREDERICTON (GNB) – The following statement was issued today by Glen Savoie, minister responsible for La Francophonie, on the occasion of International Francophonie Day, March 20:

On March 20, 300 million people who are part of the worldwide Francophonie find many ways to celebrate their pride in speaking and living in French. And this year, they will do it under the theme La Francophonie de l’avenir (the Francophonie of the future).

Eighty-eight states and governments that are members of the International Organization of La Francophonie, including New Brunswick, celebrate this day every year.

As a member of this organization, our province has access to a greater visibility on the international stage, which allows us to develop unique business opportunities and recruit international students and immigrants to meet our workforce needs.

As minister, I take this opportunity to invite all New Brunswickers to take part in various events organized in their region to celebrate this day.

Let us be proud of our province belonging to the extended family of La Francophonie, which is united through the French language and the francophone culture, and let us keep promoting the francophone and Acadian culture of New Brunswick.

Happy International Francophonie Day 2022!
