Overview
A Peat Exploration Licence grants exclusive right to explore a specific Crown peatland area for the purpose of determining its commercial potential.
Eligibility
No person shall hold more than one Peat Exploration at any time.
Description
The granting of a Peat Exploration Licence for Crown peatlands greater than 40 ha in surface area is subject to a public bidding process.
A Peat Exploration Licence is valid for two year. Two two-year extension may be granted.
Fees
Unless otherwise specified, Fees exclude the harmonized sales tax (HST).
