ANUGA 2023
October 7-11, 2023
Cologne, Germany

The New Brunswick Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries is inviting you to be part of a European in-market development activity taking place around ANUGA. The Marketing and Trade Branch led New Brunswick Delegation Walker’s Program is an opportunity to investigate Germany and other international export markets for food and beverage and diversify and expand sales network.

ANUGA, taking place every two years, is the world’s leading international food and beverage trade fair. This year’s biennial event with an anticipated 7,972 exhibitors is bringing the largest international industry community together. 90% of the exhibitors are international. Over 169,653 visitors from 201 countries.

With European Consultant Phaff Exports Marketing, we have developed a robust program suitable for export-ready enterprises. There will be opportunities for participating companies to meet with potential buyers, network with attendees, attend conferences, meet with our federal trade commissioners.

Show Registration: €150 (Badges are valid all 5 days of the trade show).

Participants will be responsible for their travel, meals, and accommodations. These expenses may be subsidized through our Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (SCAP) Program.

The 2023 Virtual Taste of Canada will take place October 17-20, and will be composed of pre-arranged B2B meetings between Canadian food suppliers and major Mexican food retailers and services providers such as specialized importers and distributors, based on interests. To prepare for the event, a series of educational webinars will also be offered to the Canadian participants.

The main objective of this initiative is to introduce to Mexican buyers Canadian companies with new, innovative products.

This year’s edition will focus on the priority sectors:

Export-ready in the following categories:

  • Bakery, Biscuits, Cookies & Crackers
  • Gourmet, Confectionery & Specialty Products
  • Ready-to-cook, Ready-to-eat
  • Snack, Healthy & Better-for-you
  • Plant-based Products
  • Pet Food Products

Recruitment

Our objective is to recruit Canadian exporters that are new to the market and/or offer new/innovative products, and are focusing on Mexico as a target market in order to maximize the potential interest of Mexican retailers and distributors participating in the event. We would like to note that although export experience is not necessary, to be selected, companies need to be export-ready, meaning they have the production capacity, resources and management to deliver a marketable product internationally at a competitive price. Our strong preference is to introduce new companies to the market, as opposed to showcasing companies we are actively working with or that already have a presence in the Mexican market.

Registration deadline: July 14, 2023

Details of the program

a. Webinar Series - The webinar series will be held in September 2023.  Once the dates are confirmed, an invitation will be shared with all partners. The proposed themes for the webinars are:

- Doing business in the agri-food sector in Mexico
- Food labelling requirements in Mexico
- Making the most of your buyer meetings

b. Market Intelligence - Prior to the B2B program, the Embassy will offer tailored market intelligence to the participating companies to help them prepare for their meetings.

c. Pre-arranged B2B program - For the B2B program, we will work with a service provider to pre-arrange 6 virtual B2B meetings per Canadian company. We will be targeting buyers from a wide range of retailers, including Walmart, Soriana, Chedraui, La Comer, H-E-B, Costco, Palacio de Hierro and Liverpool. As done in previous editions, we will also invite key Mexican importers and distributors, as they can play an important role in the market entry strategy of Canadian companies in Mexico. Local contacts will select, within the participating companies, those they would like to meet.

d. Virtual Catalogue – A virtual catalog showcasing the Canadian participants will be used to facilitate the recruitment of local buyers and distributors. The attached “Information for catalog” document will be used to create this catalog; companies are requested to complete it by COB Friday July 14, 2023 and send it in with their company logo and images of main products. It is important that the Canadian participants take note that the information they share in this form will be translated “as is” and included in the virtual catalog.

Logistics

a. The platform that will be used for the B2B program will be Zoom. Prior to the B2B program, we will host a virtual briefing session with the participating companies during which the consultant will present the process for the virtual B2B meetings.

b. Please note as well that the B2B program will be conducted in English. Spanish-English interpretation will be provided by the consultant when requested by the Mexican contact.

More details on the 2023 Virtual Taste of Canada in Mexico will be shared with you and with the participants as they become available. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
