FREDERICTON (GNB) – The provincial government has revised the COVID-19 vaccination policy for employees working in vulnerable sectors. This follows the government’s commitment to review the policy by the end of last month.

Effective Monday, April 11:

· Non-fully vaccinated employees who work in vulnerable sectors, including the facilities of regional health authorities, Extra-Mural/Ambulance NB and corrections, can return to work on the condition they follow all mitigation measures required by their employer, based on Public Health guidance, until they are fully vaccinated.

· Full vaccination will be defined as up-to-date vaccination requirements as determined by an employer in these vulnerable sectors based on Public Health guidance. Public Health currently recommends that full vaccination requires three doses for employees in these sectors.

· Employees currently working in vulnerable sectors who have had fewer than three doses are also required to follow all mitigation measures required by their employer, based on Public Health guidance, until they are fully vaccinated.

· Leave without pay for unvaccinated employees in vulnerable sectors ends on April 11. They are expected to report to work on that day.

Operators of nursing homes and adult residential facilities licensed by Social Development will be required to implement policies that align with these guidelines.
