Government of New Brunswick

The 2029 Canada Summer Games will be hosted in New Brunswick

The Canada Games are this nation’s largest biennial multi-sport event and bring together the best young athletes from every province and territory.

Every Canada Games begins with the establishment of a partnership between the host provincial/territorial government and the Canada Games Council. Through this partnership a foundation is established that guides the host selection process and provides direction to the Games themselves.

The real excitement of any Games begins with the selection of the host community. The host selection process will unfold over the next three years and will include:

Information session - Spring 2023
Launch of bid process - Fall 2023
Host community announcement - Spring 2025

Additional information will be released as it becomes available or by contacting the Sport and Recreation Branch of the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture at SR/[email protected]

The Canada Games have been held in New Brunswick on two previous occasions.  The 1985 Canada Summer Games in Saint John and the 2003 Canada Winter Games in Bathurst-Campbellton.

More about the Canada Games

Held once every two years, alternating between winter and summer, the Canada Games represent the highest level of national competition for up and coming Canadian athletes. The Games have been hosted in every province at least once since their inception in Quebec City during Canada’s Centennial in 1967. The Games are proud of their contribution to Canada’s sport development system, in addition to their lasting legacy of sport facilities, community pride and national unity. The organization of the Canada Games is made possible through the tireless dedication of local Host Societies and the contribution and support of the federal, provincial/territorial and host municipal governments. The Games are governed by the Canada Games Council.
