Overview
An elevating device operating permit authorizes the owner to operate an elevating device.
Eligibility
Owners of elevating devices are required to maintain a valid operating permit.
After an elevating device is installed an inspection is completed, and if the device is found to be functioning properly an operating permit is issued. Operating permits must be displayed in a conspicuous place in or on the elevating device.
Operating permits must be renewed annually.
Description
Operating permits are issued to the owners of buildings in which elevating devices are installed.
The requirement to obtain an operating permit does not apply to wharf ramps, private residence elevators and private residence incline lifts.
Fees
Unless otherwise specified, Fees exclude the harmonized sales tax (HST).
