As part of Inspections and Enforcement New Brunswick (IENB), the Conservation Enforcement Section aims to protect and promote the wise use of New Brunswick’s natural resources. This includes protecting the forests, wetlands and wildlife in our province as well as helping to ensure the safety of those who enjoy exploring these areas.

Conservation Officers enforce provincial and federal legislation including the Criminal Code, investigate suspected offences, apprehend offenders, perform searches and collect/seize evidence, manage prosecution files and appear as a Crown witness in any resulting court cases as required.

As part of IENB, conservation officers are designated under the Police Act of New Brunswick and have a general public safety and police support mandate. They work closely with the RCMP, as well as municipal and regional police services and respond to a variety of emergency and police-related incidents and calls for service. An equal primary responsibility is to ensure the safety and security of the public.
