Eligibility

TRADE QUALIFIERS
An individual desiring certification as a journeyperson in New Brunswick, in the Tower Crane Operator occupation is required to meet one of the criteria as stipulated in Board Order GC002 "Requirements to Obtain a Certificate of Qualification.

A person who has gained the equivalent of 3600 hours of practical experience in the Tower Crane Operator occupation may apply for Certification. Successful candidates will receive a New Brunswick Certificate of Qualification.

Description

The tower crane operator occupation includes:
(a) the performing of routine crane inspections and service
procedures;
(b) the carrying out of crane checks before operation and
continued visual checks during operation;
(c) the performing of rigging procedures;
(d) the positioning and stabilizing of the crane prior to
lifting;
(e) the performing of pre-lift planning;
(f) the calculating of lifting capacities according to the
crane’s load chart;
(g) the using of visual and audio systems to communicate with
management, signallers and riggers;
(h) the operating of a crane to raise, reposition and place a
load; and
(i) the maintaining of crane records.
