To apply, complete an online application through your NSLSC online services account or contact the NSLSC by calling 1-888-815-4514.

Eligibility

You could be eligible for the Repayment Assistance Plan (RAP) if:
• you reside in Canada (or are on an international internship or are a reservist deployed abroad);
• you are currently repaying a provincial and/or federal loan;
• your loans are in good standing; and
• you meet the income threshold for the program

Description

As a borrower, you are responsible for repaying your student loans, however, if you are experiencing difficulty in meeting your repayment obligations, government programs are available to provide assistance and help you manage your payments.

The Repayment Assistance Plan is a program available for borrowers who are having difficulty making their student loan payments. Under the plan, the amount you pay will be based on how much you earn, how much you owe on your student loans, and on your family size.

If you are experiencing financial difficulty, contact the National Student Loans Service Centre before missing a payment, as some repayment assistance measures may not be available to you if your loan is returned to government for collection.
