Government of New Brunswick

Submissions to have a generic drug product listed in the New Brunswick Drug Plans Formulary must include all items specified in the Generic Drug Submission Requirements. A copy of the Submission Summary Form and Unrestricted Sharing of Information Letter template may be obtained by emailing [email protected]. Manufacturers will be asked to re-send submissions that have missing requirements or include unnecessary information.

Formulary Listing Decisions

Drugs that have complete submissions and prices confirmed by the last working day of a month will be eligible for inclusion in the following month’s Formulary Update bulletin. The Formulary Update bulletin of generic drug product additions and changes is issued the last week of every month, except in December when it is issued mid-month. (Formulary Update Bulletins)

Background

The New Brunswick Pharmacy Act provides authority for pharmacists to dispense a pharmaceutically equivalent product. Effective July 1, 2014, product selection rests with the pharmacist at the time of filling a prescription. Therefore, drugs are no longer added to the NB Formulary (interchangeable pharmaceutical products list). However, the list will continue to be available on the Department of Health’s website for reference.
