Overview
All persons who performs nuisance wildlife control for compensation must successfully complete the nuisance wildlife control operator program.
Eligibility
Nuisance Wildlife Control Operator Licence Requirements:
All applicants must:
- be at least 16 years of age,
- provide satisfactory proof that the applicant has successfully completed a Firearm Safety Course or Challenge approved by the Minister,
- provide satisfactory proof that the applicant has successfully completed a Trapper Education Course approved by the Minister,
- not be currently restricted from obtaining a licence or permit under the Act,
- Not have a Criminal Code offence dealing with cruelty to animals,
- pay the prescribed fee
Description
The Nuisance Wildlife Control Operator Program is a one-day session that includes the following topics:
- Professional conduct
- Humane treatment of wildlife
- Manual layout and content
- Wildlife diseases and health concerns
- Regulations
- Practical exercise
There is a course at least once a year or more frequently depending on demand. Courses are normally held in Fredericton.
A practical exercise serves as a test.
Besides their student manuals, participants are recorded in our data base for future purchase of a NWCO Licence. Once the licence is purchased the individual receives a certification card to prove he/she has been licenced.
