Government of New Brunswick

Overview

All pesticides used in New Brunswick must be registered by Health Canada. Any individuals wishing to handle (purchase, sell, store, transport or use) a non-domestic pesticide must hold a Pesticide Applicator Certificate. Commercial (Classes A through K) certification is issued annually. Private (Class L) certification is issued for up to five (5) years.

Certification training is self-directed through national pesticide applicator training manuals. Please contact the Pesticides Program Officer to determine the appropriate training materials for you.

Eligibility

Any individual wishing to handle nondomestic pesticides or apply pesticides for fee or reward or as an application which requires a Pesticide Permit (for example, to water, by air or for research) must first obtain a Pesticide Applicator Certificate.

Description

Certification is proof that the individual understand the basic knowledge requirements (qualified through provincial examination) to ensure that pesticide applications are conducted in a safe and responsible manner.
