Overview
Under the Petroleum Product Storage and Handling Regulation (87-97) - Clean Environment Act, petroleum storage tank owners must apply for an a receive a site licence each year. The intent of the program is to protect the environment from petroleum contamination. This is accomplished by ensuring that systems are registered, properly maintained, and insured. In so doing the licence ensures that the risk of petroleum contamination is greatly reduced.
Eligibility
The owner of every petroleum storage system, except a marina, with a total capacity of 2,000 liters or more, and every marina having a system with a total capacity of 200 liters or more.
Description
Review of application material, and the issuance of license. May also require follow-up with client to ensure receipt of all required material. For some systems, inspections are conducted, and review and acceptance of tank test reports is required.
