FREDERICTON (GNB) – Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries Minister Margaret Johnson will lead a delegation of more than 100 New Brunswick companies participating in the 2023 Seafood Expo North America.

The event takes place March 12-14 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.

The exposition, which has been held for over 30 years, is the largest of its kind in North America. Thousands of buyers and suppliers of fresh, frozen, packaged and value-added seafood products, equipment and services from more than 100 countries meet to do business at the annual event.

“I look forward to showcasing our seafood to buyers from around the world,” said Johnson. “Our seafood is currently sold to more than 50 countries around the world. We are working every day to deliver high-quality seafood while championing sustainable practices.”

Representatives of New Brunswick’s seafood and seafood services industries participate to reinforce relationships with existing customers, generate new customer leads, and secure sales for 2023.

Nine New Brunswick companies will be exhibiting alongside the New Brunswick: Deliciously Canadian booth, and most of the province’s seafood producers, harvester associations and industry service providers will be represented at the event.

The seafood industry is a significant contributor to New Brunswick’s economy, with 2022 export sales reaching $1.8 billion. Highlights from the past year include considerable market diversification for New Brunswick lobster sales and growth in the value of salmon sales.

The province’s agriculture, aquaculture and fisheries industries deliver more than 50 products to local and export markets. They also employ more than 17,000 New Brunswickers in primary production and processing and are a significant economic contributor to many rural, coastal and Indigenous communities.
