The Parent Portal is an online tool to help parents find information about licensed early learning and child care services across New Brunswick. It is an easy way to search for child care in your community, see if there are available spaces as well as inspection reports for facilities. It is the tool to register your child in one of New Brunswick’s early learning and child care facilities to benefit for the reduced cost of child care.

A moratorium is a legal term that grants the legal authority to temporarily suspend an obligation.
In this instance, it is a moratorium to suspend the issuance of designated status of licences for new applicants.
The moratorium for the designation program is in effect immediately until October 31, 2022.
The Parent Portal includes information on child care subsidies, as well as an online calculator to estimate the amount families may be eligible for if they qualify.
The Daycare Assistance Program offers financial support to families to help them pay the daycare cost of Early Learning and Childcare Centres for children 0 to 12.

Fees paid by parents for children 0-5 years old, who are enrolled in a designated facility is now reduced on average by 50% as of June 1, 2022. The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development is implementing a standardized Parent Fee Grid that sets the fees operators can charge parents.

Eligibility for the reduced parent fees
As of June 1, 2022, EECD is implementing a new Parent Fee Grid which sets the fees operators of designated facilities can charge parents.
To be eligible for this reduced parent fee, your child must be 5 years of age or younger and not attending school and enrolled in a designated New Brunswick Early Learning Centre or a New Brunswick Early Learning Home. Parents must accept the enrolment offer provided by the child care operator as part of their process of welcoming the child to their facility.
Operators of designated facilities are required to apply the fee reduction directly to parent fees, and parents will provide payment to operators based on the new Parent Fee Grid.
Subsidies for Parents
Families with a gross annual family income under $80,000 can benefit from more reductions in their daily fees. The Parent Subsidy Program is available to support low- and middle-income families with the cost of childcare for the portion that is charged by operators. Non designated Early Learning and Child Care Facilities
However, low and middle income families registered in non-designated facilities have access to the Daycare Assistance Program to help cover cost of fees based on eligibility criteria. Parents can verify if they qualify for the Daycare Assistance Program by using this calculator.
A child-care facility can be licensed, but not designated as a New Brunswick Early Learning Centre or Home. Operators participate in a voluntary application process to obtain the designation. You can check the status of designation of your early learning and childcare facility here.
